Bringing Shariah-banking products and services to the door-steps of the transit hub
KUALA LUMPUR, Sunday, [15 September 2013] – Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (“Bank Islam”) has extended its network with the opening of another branch and Bureau De Change outlet (BDC) at Kuala Lumpur Sentral (KL Sentral) - Malaysia’s largest transit hub.
With the addition of this new branch called KL Sentral 2, Bank Islam now has 131 branches, eight (8) Consumer Business Centres, six (6) Ar-Rahnu branches and 6 BDC outlets in Malaysia.
The new branch was officially launched by Bank Islam Managing Director, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Sri Zukri Samat.
In a statement issued in conjunction with the official opening, Dato’ Sri Zukri Samat said: “The network expansion is part of the Bank’s strategic business initiatives to stay ahead of the market and remain relevant in an increasingly competitive environment. In addition to providing customers with much sought after Shariah-based products and services, the new branch at the strategic transit hub, enables us to serve our customers better by bringing banking and financial services to the door-step of business owners in the building and those in the vicinity.”
“By extension, the Bank is also playing the role of helping the Malaysian government promote the country as the international hub for Islamic finance,” he added.
This branch concept at KL Sentral 2 reflects the Bank’s customers’ services transformation programme. It is designed with our customers’ needs in mind. The concept allows for better interaction between the bank and customers in line with our efforts to enhance service and create a pleasant banking experience for our customers.
Dato’ Sri Zukri said that Bank Islam has so far opened three new branches for the 2013 financial year and targets to open four additional branches nationwide by the end of this year. "The physical bank branch is still relevant as it is an important channel to support the growth and development of a region as well as provide the population with facilities to enhance their lifestyle. Our new branches are a one-stop comprehensive financial centre offering the Group's products and services for savings, investments, protection and financing," he said.
